Sales workflows worth evaluating first
| Workflow | AI fit signal | Keep human |
|---|---|---|
| Lead research | Repeated research + structured summary. | Qualification and outreach judgement. |
| Call notes → CRM | Clear transcript-to-fields transformation. | Sensitive deal fields and exceptions. |
| Follow-up drafts | Context-rich but reviewable output. | Send approval for important accounts. |
| Pipeline hygiene | Rules + pattern detection. | Forecast judgement and deal strategy. |
| Account research | Information retrieval and summarization. | Interpretation and account planning. |
Automate administration before persuasion
The safest and clearest sales wins tend to remove research, note-taking, copying and preparation—not replace the rep's relationship judgement.
This is also easier to measure. You can track hours returned to selling, time-to-follow-up, CRM completeness and response quality without making the system responsible for closing the deal.
Example sales workflow
Metrics to use
- Minutes of admin work per opportunity.
- Time from meeting to CRM update.
- Percentage of required CRM fields completed.
- Time from inbound qualification to first useful response.
- Rep-reported time returned to customer-facing work.
Controls that matter
Do not let a sales automation silently invent customer facts, alter important deal terms or send high-stakes messages without an explicit control model. Give the system approved sources, visible citations where possible, bounded write permissions and escalation paths.
